Two installers and their customers are celebrating after being picked as the first monthly winners in ADEY’s competition to win back the cost of your gas heating bill.
For November, the winner was Nicholas Breeze of Breeze Plumbing & Heating in Shrewsbury and his customer, Patti Cooke. Each will receive the cost of their respective monthly gas heating bill back, up to the value of £500, as their prize.
Richard Knight, pictured, of RAK Powerflusing in Norwich, along with his customer Rebecca Cates, were picked at random as the October winners.
“I’m over the moon to have won,” said Richard. “As a powerflushing expert, I always speak to my customers about installing a filter once I’ve got the system working more efficiently. Once they can see, and feel, the benefits, of a flush, it makes sense to protect that investment further, so fitting a filter is a given for me.
“Rebecca was equally as thrilled when I told her. At a time when so many people are worried about their energy bills, it’s fantastic for us both to win the prize.”
“When I visited Mrs Cooke’s home, like so many people at the moment, her priority was about how to save money on her energy bill,” added Nicholas. “And with radiators more than 40 years old, improving efficiency was paramount. We are both hugely pleased to have won, and the system’s radiators are now heating the house more efficiently, so it’s a win-win.”
“Last winter I’d felt like the house wasn’t heating up properly and I was considering moving. I’d made a list of the things that were wrong with the house and the heating was definitely one of them,” said Patti. “It was built in the 1930s and I’ve lived in it for 27 years, on my own for three since my husband died, so the radiators are really old. I thought perhaps a new radiator on the landing might improve things, so I made enquiries with some local heating engineers. Nick, who had been recommended to me by a friend of my daughter, was one of the only ones to come back to me.
“When he came to the house, he advised that the best option would be to fit new radiators to improve the heat output. He fitted eight in total, and to help ensure my investment was protected and they continued to work as efficiently as possible, he recommended installing a MagnaClean filter. He explained how the filter worked and how it would help by collecting the dirt that circulates through the system.
“The new radiators have made a real difference. Not only is the house warmer but it heats up quicker too, so I’m delighted. When Nick called me to say that we’d won the competition, I was delighted, for both of us. I’d forgotten about it, so it was a lovely and welcome surprise.”
