JTL unveiled its newest training centre in Norwich on Friday 17 November, which was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Norwich, Councillor James Wright.
Norwich is the home of JTL’s very first training facility, which opened seven years ago. However, with the growing demand for apprenticeships in the local area, JTL said it recognised the need for a larger and more advanced centre.
Located on Mason Road, the centre has already generated two new jobs alongside the existing team that will move to the new centre, with scope for more vacancy opportunities as the facility grows.
The Norwich-based training centre is to be joined by JTL’s subsidiary company, Develop, to offer short courses covering compliance, technical and safety training. The Develop team joined JTL for the Norwich centre opening, discussing their line of work and answering any queries around ACS Gas, Electrical, Gas Distribution and Street Works training programmes.
Councillor James Wright toured the new training hub, accompanied by JTL’s chair, Sir John Low, and chief executive, Chris Claydon.
Sir John said: “JTL is a far-reaching community that aims to focus not only on the needs of its apprentices, but also of local communities, employers and our trainers too.
“The opening of this centre in Norwich perfectly illustrates our commitment to all stakeholders involved, as well as to the continuous growth and development of the training we provide for future electricians and plumbing and heating engineers.”
Chris added: “We are delighted to return to Norwich to unveil our brand-new training centre. This £1.5minvestment is a testament to our resolute commitment to meeting the growing demand for apprenticeships and ensure that we are providing the correct facilities to meet these needs.
“It has been a pleasure to welcome Councillor James Wright to our new centre and to use this as an opportunity to reflect on the growth of our network of training centres over the past seven years. We now focus on looking ahead to shape the next generation of electrical and plumbing and heating apprentices, equipping them with the green skills to become industry leaders.”
Councillor James Wright said: “I am thrilled to have been able to join JTL to open its newest training centre in Norwich.
“The city has a great history of being a hub of innovation and JTL’s shared vision of creating opportunities in the local community for both apprentices and employers is vital to the facility’s success.
“I look forward to witnessing the positive impact of this centre on our community with the ever-growing appetite for apprenticeships in the area.”
