Delabie this month revealed the steps it has taken in its sustainable journey, along with its latest products, such as the Black Magic Collection, the accessibility range and the healthcare range.
As part of its journey to sustainability, the French bathroom provider said it wants to make its products long-lasting and has now extended its warranty to 30 years. Delabie taps have an average lifespan of 25 years before replacement. These replacements are typically due to refurbishments of the premises rather than product failures, the company noted during a media briefing.
Every year, Delabie sells over 150,000 spare parts. The company said that this results in repaired products rather than discarded ones, preserving resources. Delabie stated that it is now committed to supplying spare parts for 50 years across all its technical products.
In August 2023, Delabie again achieved a silver EcoVadis medal with a score of 61/100. According to Delabie, this score reflects the company’s engagement and performance in the categories of “the Environment”, “Social and Human Rights” and “Ethics”. The company said it is now aiming for the platinum medal.
Black Magic Collection
Delabie said it has found that the trend for matte black bathroom products has been on the rise in domestic settings and is not filtering through to commercial settings. It noted that black is a “timeless” colour and works well for restaurants, nightclubs and offices.
The collection includes:
- HEMI inset round washbasin in matte black ref. 120490BK
- ALGUI countertop washbasin in matte black ref. 120110BK
- MINI BAILA washbasin in matte black ref. 121180BK
- Wall-hung S21 S WC pan in matte black ref. 110310BK
- FINO urinal in matte black ref. 135710BK
These products will withstand intensive use and need to be easy to clean, it cited, so the Black Magic Collection is made from 304 stainless steel with a matte black Teflon finish. Teflon or PTFE is a chemical-resistant material, the same finish that is used on pots and pans. But sanitary ware, like washbasins, WCs and urinals, is not subject to the same challenges as kitchen ware so the black finish will remain intact for a long time.
Teflon is also a non-stick surface. Scale, the main challenge to black finishes, will struggle to find purchase on the surface, according to Delabie.
