Stelrad sponsors Team Rotherham

Stelrad Radiators announced that it is sponsoring Team Rotherham – the Rotherham Harriers and Athletics Club.

The club has around 300 members equally split between under 20s and over 20s age groups. In addition, the club has around 60 volunteers, coaches and technical officials who organise and deliver the club training and competitions. Each year the club enters a representative team into the UK Youth Development League lower age group Northern regional competition.

The lower age group team provides track and field competition for athletes from 11 to 14 and they compete as either under 13 or under 15 athletes against athletes from other clubs in their division – the East Premier Division. There are about 50 athletes in the team and Stelrad’s support for the club sees those athletes all issued with an official tee-shirt to wear at the four events that take place around the region.

Paul Schofield, Stelrad’s warehouse and distribution manager, said: “My daughter Maya is a member of the team and when we were discussing sponsorship and what the club needed to compete on a level footing with some of the other teams I decided to ask my employers if they would be prepared to support us. Maya is just one of 50 athletes in the team but I knew Stelrad has a good reputation for being supportive of young sports people in our area and I was delighted that when I asked the question they came back with a very positive response that will help the club no end.”

Steve Gaines, club chairman, added: “I’d like to thank Stelrad on behalf of the club and its members for the excellent support they have given us. The athletes love their tee shirts and enjoy belonging to the group. They are extremely proud to represent the club and our local area at the events we attend.”

Debbie Ward, Stelrad’s HR manager, said: “We’re delighted to be able to help the club in a small way recognising the efforts they put into their sport and if we can contribute towards them winning medals and achieving excellent results as well, so much the better. We look forward to hearing of further success from track and field and from cross country in the months ahead.”
