Mitsubishi Electric has awarded its Committed Carbon Reduction Partner (CCRP) accreditation to Maintenance & Contracting Services (MCS).

The company has been reviewed as part of a Mitsubishi Electric scheme called the CCRP. This accreditation recognises the steps that MCS is taking to track and lower the carbon footprint of the business, a statement said.

MCS is an independently owned M&E contractor and Building Services provider with offices in London and Bristol. The company specialises in the design, installation and delivery of building services solutions, covering all aspects of mechanical and electrical engineering.

Danielle Haskings, head of sustainability and social value at MCS, said: “We used to get questions about the size of equipment and whether it needed a crane lift onto the roof, but now we are just as likely to be asked about our environmental policy.”

Mitsubishi Electric said it has created the CCRP accreditation to help its installer partners prepare for net zero by formally recognising their efforts to track and reduce carbon emissions across their business.

Danielle added: “Our customers are now asking what we are doing to reduce our own carbon footprint and the process with Mitsubishi Electric has allowed us to clearly demonstrate that. We’ve now got a clear roadmap for our own business and have now started looking at our own supply chain to see where we can help them identify ways of reducing carbon as well.”

Mitsubishi Electric said the starting point in the accreditation process is measuring the businesses own corporate carbon footprint (CCF). This is an essential first step in understanding the source of the CO2 emissions across the business, it added.

Accredited partners also receive a marketing toolkit from Mitsubishi Electric to help promote their new status.

Oliver Collins, marketing manager at Mitsubishi Electric, said: “This accreditation is open all existing members of our Partner Programme and is designed to help equip them with the credentials needed to win business in an increasingly environmentally conscious world. We firmly believe that by working together with our Partners, we can make a lasting and positive impact on the wider construction industry.”
