Ian Rippin, CEO at the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), has commented on MCS’ latest renewables installation data for this year.
Ian said: “The latest data from the MCS Data Dashboard shows that we’ve reached 191,241 certified installations in 2024 (as of the end of September). We saw that 22,595 installations were completed in September 2024 alone, marking a 12% increase compared to September last year.
“2024 is now officially the best year on record for certified heat pump installations in the UK. In 2023, the UK saw 40,426 certified heat pump installations between January and December, a record at the time. However, the UK has already reached that figure, with 42,064 installations completed from January – September 2024.
“Battery storage also continues to gather pace, with September 2024 being the best month on record for this technology. Solar PV installations in September also saw a 7% increase on last month, bringing the total for the year to 135,624 installations.”
