Switch2 Energy has selected National Energy Action (NEA) as its chosen charity of the year.

A statement said that the partnership between Switch2 and NEA will involve collaborative efforts designed to help those at risk of fuel poverty. These will include campaigns aimed at raising awareness of the challenges faced by households in heating their homes, as well as fundraising efforts to support NEA’s work.

Switch2 stated that it will also be “leveraging its expertise” in smart heat networks to explore ways to improve energy efficiency for households across the country. Through smart technologies allowing for more in-depth analysis of energy usage, it added that households can be provided with the tools and up-to-date knowledge they need to manage their energy consumption and costs more effectively.

Cathy Olphin, sustainability manager at Switch2 Energy, said: “Everyone should have access to reliable, affordable energy. Switch2 has long been dedicated to protecting our customers through education campaigns, advice and support, so partnering with National Energy Action to share our expertise in this area is a natural fit.

“National Energy Action’s fantastic work in tackling fuel poverty and providing direct support to those in need aligns with our values to support the most vulnerable in our communities, and this partnership is a real reflection of our commitment to making a positive impact through our ongoing ESG initiatives.

“We’re looking forward to working together to help improve the lives of those most in need across the country”.

Jess Irwin, fundraising manager at NEA, added: “Fuel poverty remains one of the biggest challenges we face as a society. This winter, there will be six million UK households in fuel poverty, highlighting the need for support in ensuring people are able to stay warm, safe and healthy at home.

“Partnerships are at the heart of our work and help us to deliver the best outcomes for people experiencing fuel poverty. So, we are incredibly excited to be chosen as Switch2’s Charity of the Year and look forward to working with the team on their fundraising and awareness-raising activities over the next 12 months to see what we can achieve together.”
