Stelrad stated that it has made environmentally friendly changes to the production of its brochures.
All of its new brochures are to be printed on an FSC Mix Silk stock. The company said that this a kind of silk fusion textured paper made from a paste made from carb0xymethyl cellulose or watered down polyethyl alcohol used in paper making.
According to Stelrad, this change means it can include the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) logo on the back page and the following statement: “This item is printed on an FSC Mix Silk. FSC certified and manufactured at a mill with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 50001 certifications.”
Some brochures will be printed on Cyclus Offset, a white paper made from 100% recycled fibres.
Stelrad said that brochures that are printed with a laminate finish on the cover will use Cellogreen bio-degradable laminate, a biodegradable recyclable and sustainable lamination film made from wood pulp sourced from Sustainable Forestry Initiative products.
It added that some brochures will be printed using carbon balancing (CB). This means that a premium will be charged for the paper the brochures are printed on, it noted, with an offset donation going to the World Land Trust. Again the CB logo will appear on the back cover of any these brochures.
Chris Harvey, Stelrad’s head of marketing, said: “We are taking the move towards environmentally aware print very seriously as part of our environmental policies for the business. The opportunities are there for us and all major businesses to make a difference when it comes to our marketing and business communications and we take these opportunities very seriously and will continue to do so as we move forward.”
