Fernox organises community tree planting event

Fernox

Fernox partnered with its local council for a community tree planting event.

The company said that the occasion formed part of its 60th anniversary celebrations and ongoing sustainability programme. It was organised by Fernox to support its local council’s ambitious climate strategy. Surrey County Council has pledged to plant 1.2m trees in Surrey, one for every resident, by 2030, as part of its aim to be carbon neutral by 2050.

Fernox employees, customers, partners and children from a local infant school all joined the efforts to plant 300 bare root whip trees and four fruit trees in the borough.

Fernox stated that the tree planting event is just one of its many initiatives forming part of its continued focus on care, under its corporate ‘ESI Cares’ programme. The company added that ESI Cares encourages its employees to support their chosen charities and local causes and offers donation matching as well as paid time off for all staff to participate in volunteering activities of their choice.

Ernie McDonald, general manager at Fernox, said: “Giving back to the community we’ve been part of for so many years is something we’re deeply passionate about and this event was a meaningful opportunity for us to support our local area as well as make a contribution to the health of the planet. I would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who took part and braved the cold weather to work together and make this happen.”
