Conex Bänninger has reinforced its commitment to Stoke on Trent College by conducting a specialised press-fit training session for gas engineer apprentices.
Kevin Goodison, regional technical sales manager (Midlands), guided the apprentices through the installation of a >B< Press fitting. He also provided insights into the company’s 115-year history, highlighting its innovative product developments and market launches, before focusing on the benefits of the >B< Press range.
The apprentices, who work locally in Stoke, attend Stoke on Trent College weekly while pursuing their Gas Engineering Level 3 diploma.
Kevin said: “Engaging with young engineers and helping to educate them on press-fit technology is invaluable. The apprentices at Stoke on Trent College were highly receptive, and its programme complements their workplace experience exceptionally well. Playing a small role in their development is very fulfilling.
“Training future engineers on press-fit is a key part of Conex Bänninger’s ongoing mission to drive the press revolution that has already gained significant momentum.
“Today, specifiers prioritise products that lower the carbon footprint of construction and refurbishment projects. This shift influences material selection, with end-users increasingly demanding environmentally friendly solutions.”
Whilst soldering and brazing has long been the industry standard, many building managers now prohibit its use. In 2018, the government banned combustible materials on external walls of new buildings over 18 meters high, including flats, hospitals, residential care facilities, and student accommodations. Following further review and consultation, these regulations are being expanded to include hotels, hostels, and boarding houses, a statement added.
