BPEC continues support for Aquabox

The BPEC Charity witnessed the work being done to support international water aid recently during a visit to one of its beneficiaries Aquabox, a volunteer-led charity that provides filtration units and other humanitarian aid to crisis zones around the world.

Working from their base in Derbyshire, Aquabox volunteers assemble two key filtration systems which are shipped internationally to countries and communities where clean running water is unavailable.

The first is the Aquabox family filter, capable of filtering water at the rate of one litre per minute and designed to meet the needs of a typical family group.

The second is a community filter which uses the same technology but scaled up to process up to six litres per minute and designed for schools, clinics and community centres.

This year BPEC has continued its support of Aquabox with an annual donation of £3,500 to assist their efforts in producing these important filtration systems.

During the visit, BPEC chief executive Neil Collishaw chatted to Aquabox personnel about their latest shipment heading to Nepal; 10 pallets containing 250 aid boxes including many water filters and other essential aid items.

The charity is also currently responding to the recent earthquake crisis in Myanmar and Thailand, with an offer of family and community filters that could potentially provide safe water for up to 18,000 people.

To date, over 125,000 water filters have been produced by volunteers and dispatched to disaster areas and conflict zones. So far over 50 countries have received aid from Aquabox and an estimated 2 billion litres of contaminated water has been converted into safe, clean water.

“Aquabox is carrying out such vital work around the world, we were only too happy to continue our support of this deserving charity,” said Neil. “It was truly inspiring to witness first-hand the effort put in by the volunteers and hear about the latest projects to help bring clean drinking water to those who desperately need it. We hope our donation goes some way to boosting their efforts in 2025.”
