John has worked in the heating, ventilation and hot water industry for more than 10 years, designing products and systems for commercial and domestic installations. More recently, he has worked with heat pump and solar thermal technology to drive carbon and running cost savings in the private and public sector.
John led the launch of Stiebel Eltron’s range of free advice services, working with architects and developers at the design stage of a project to ensure the plans maximise use of green energy to achieve excellent level BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) standard ratings.
This advice includes undertaking a survey of the property examining the heat loss and heat demands of the building and providing a set of recommendations.
As Stiebel Eltron’s technical director, it is John’s job to keep firmly up-to-date with the rapid changes in government legislation and technological advances in the green energy industry.
John has also used his knowledge and expertise in the media to lobby for government support across the renewable energy sector, leading calls in 2010 for the Coalition to show its commitment to renewable energy.
He is a founding partner of the Green Power Forum, a national body which was created in 2009 to help public and private sector organisations drive down their carbon emissions.
Before taking on the role of technical director at Stiebel Eltron, John was head of design services at Applied Energy Products.
