Plumbase has won the Heating and Plumbing Merchant of the Year award at the Builders Merchants Awards for Excellence 2014.
Actor and comedian, Hugh Dennis, presented Plumbase with the award at the ceremony at the Lancaster London Hotel.
Changes to operational and sales structures has seen Plumbase improve the customer experience across its branch network. This has included training for colleagues, ensuring consistent products and pricing, supporting customers with a range of specialist guides, launching a new ‘own-brand’ range, Suregraft, and running regular promotions.
The judges commended Plumbase as an example of a good, solid business that has a clear strategy, which results in a great performance within the market.
Andy Williams, Plumbase managing director, said: “We’re delighted to win this award, which is great recognition for the hard work that everyone has shown throughout the business to improve our offering to customers, so they want to come back to us time and time again.
“Everything we have done over the last year is to make our customer experience as good as it can possibly be with the right products at the right price, supported by exceptional service. We have had some fantastic feedback from plumbers and builders about how we’re making things better, and there’s much more to come.”
