In respect of boiler replacements, the current schemes simply do not work. The only reason that people are replacing boilers at the moment is from necessity (the existing one has broken down or no parts are available).
Unlike kitchens and bathrooms, which are changed because the style has gone out of fashion or they are looking tired, boilers are at the bottom of the list of priorities – if they work, leave them. The more so if they are hidden away in a cupboard as many of them are.
A boiler scrappage scheme (it worked last time) is the only thing that will produce anything like the carbon reduction that the government is looking for – and it has to be without all the baggage that is attached to the Renewable Heat Incentive and the Green Deal.
