For the tenth year in a row Altecnic has raised money for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice with a special golf day at Trentham Golf Club.
The ‘DougieMac’ as the charity is otherwise known, is the sole adult-only hospice in North Staffs, and provides care for people with a palliative or end of life diagnosis in the area. This includes both patients with cancer and those with non-cancer life limiting illnesses.
The hospice cares for half of all patients in the region with a palliative illness, and events such as the golf day help to ensure that its services remain free of charge to all patients 365 days a year, despite annual running costs of around £11.5 million.
Over the last decade the event has raised more than £220,000 for the charity.
Altecnic’s managing director, Alan Sherwin, added: “Celebrating 30 years in business this year, Altecnic is proud to sponsor the Douglas Macmillan Hospice’s Annual Golf Day for the tenth year. As a local employer, it is important for us to support the incredible work carried out by the charity’s dedicated staff and volunteers who help to improve the quality of life for so many people across North Staffordshire each year.”
