Daikin’s new Sustainable Home Centre has officially launched in Nottingham in collaboration with Michael Pavis. The grand opening of the centre was celebrated with a launch event on Friday 14 March.
The company said these centres help to educate homeowners in the area on the benefits of sustainable and low-carbon home heating, supporting anyone considering the transition. Local installers are also welcome to bring along customers to educate them on the technology and introduce them to products, it added.
James Bruce, operations support at Michael Pavis Nottingham, said: “We’re thrilled to have partnered with Daikin to bring this innovative hub to Nottingham, where we can offer homeowners cutting-edge, sustainable heating solutions while empowering local installers with training in advanced, eco-friendly technologies. Our continued partnership with Daikin highlights our commitment to renewable energy and community support.
“By equipping local professionals with the expertise to install and maintain these modern systems, we’re helping cultivate a new generation of skilled engineers who can drive our transition to a more sustainable future.”
Daikin said its Sustainable Home Network provides localised support and resources to anyone considering the transition. The centres offer incentives to local engineers via access to complimentary training courses.
The event was attended by Charlotte Lee, The Heat Pump Assocation’s CEO. to mark the centre’s official opening.
Charlotte added: “It is a pleasure to open Daikin’s latest Sustainable Home Centre, in partnership with Michael Pavis. To support the accelerated deployment of heat pumps throughout the UK and look to reduce carbon emissions from buildings in line with the UK’s commitment to meet its carbon budgets, it is essential we continue to build a qualified, competent and confident workforce.
“A high-quality provision of training is crucial to these efforts, and with our data showing a 15% increase in individuals who successfully completed a recognised heat pump training course in 2024, relative to 2023, it’s clear to see that momentum is building. Partnerships such as this one, will be crucial to supporting the transition to low carbon heating, and it’s fantastic to see first-hand the commitment and investment in supporting growth and awareness throughout the sector.”
Homeowners have the opportunity to see, touch, and experience a range of sustainable home solutions, including heat pumps, EV chargers, and solar panels at the Michael Pavis showroom.
Daikin added that visitors to the Sustainable Home Centre will be able to experience its latest heat pump technology and meet experts in the field. The centre aims to empower installers to embrace renewable heating, it noted.
Iain Bevan, commercial manager of Heating & Renewables at Daikin UK, said: “Heat pumps hold immense potential for slashing energy consumption and home bills. Over their 15-year lifespan, transitioning from a fossil fuel boiler to an air source heat pump could yield savings exceeding £3,000 compared to gas boilers, over £6,000 compared to oil and surpassing £9,000 compared to LPG.
“Our studies reveal that a staggering 68% of homeowners are unaware of the significantly higher energy efficiency of heat pumps over gas boilers. While gas boilers operate at 70-90% efficiency, heat pumps soar between 300-400%. There’s an essential need to educate homeowners about heat pump technology, and our Sustainable Home Centres, like Michael Pavis Nottingham, offer the ideal platform for such endeavours.
“Furthermore, with substantial funding of £7,500 accessible through the government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme, homeowners have remarkable opportunity to undertake green energy efficiency enhancements.”
