Eastleigh College celebrated National Apprenticeship Week, which took place between 6 February and 12 February, with a range of presentations and workshops to inspire current and future apprentices.
The week featured an assortment of internal speakers, higher education collaborations with University of Portsmouth and Southampton Solent University, and visits from external partners such as Morgan Sindall, ASK Apprenticeships, WEX and The Careers People. Some talks focused on apprenticeships in particular industries, while there were also special presentations on degree apprenticeships and application workshops designed to identify apprenticeship matches for interested learners.
Existing apprentices were also recognised during the week, with Level 3 Plumbing and Domestic Heating learner Tom receiving a special award and £50 amazon voucher for his dedication and commitment to his studies – a special celebration attended by both his College tutor and employer.
Level 3 Advanced Carpentry and Joinery learner Riley Miller brought further awareness to the rewards of apprenticeships by providing some informative content on Nation Broadcasting radio.
Fiona Thomson, SUN progression mentor at Eastleigh College, said: “National Apprenticeship Week provided insight and has been a wonderful opportunity. Learners could really appreciate what is fully involved when signing up for an apprenticeship with an employer and considering different options such as a degree apprenticeship.”
