GTEC and Heatly have announced their majority share acquisition by the United Living Group.

A company statement said that the acquisition will allow GTEC to expand its training provision and accelerate Heatly’s market deployment, while supporting United Living’s group wide training requirements and those of its customers.

Griff Thomas, managing director for GTEC and Heatly, said: “I am delighted to make this exciting announcement at the InstallerSHOW, as we come to the end of an event which has seen us introduce the first iteration of Heatly to the exhibition’s visitors.

“As I hope those who have trialled the app on our stand will agree, Heatly is set to be a real game-changer for the heat pump sector, removing some of the barriers to take-up and improving outcomes for installers and their customers. We see United Living’s investment as a key step to making Heatly the go-to solution for wide-scale heat pump deployment.

“Heatly’s cutting-edge building scanning techniques combined with United Living’s reach into infrastructure and other related sectors, means that heat pumps are just the beginning.

“For GTEC, joining the United Living Group is the ideal fit and we’re excited about the opportunities and growth this investment will bring. Like us, United Living is committed to promoting and contributing to a sustainable future, and through their support we can deliver our industry leading renewables training to a wider audience, as well as diversifying across infrastructure and other sectors and directly supporting United Living’s own training needs.

“This is an exciting stage in GTEC’s history, and we’re pleased to have the backing of such a well-respected organisation.”

Neil Armstrong, group chair and CEO for United Living Group, said: “I’m thrilled to be announcing our acquisition of a majority stake in GTEC. One of the biggest challenges for the net zero sector is a skills shortage. There isn’t the trained workforce ready to deliver all the projects that will be required to achieve the UK’s net zero goals.

“That’s why the work that Griff and team are doing is so important. Delivering training that will help us to address that shortfall and developing digital tool, Heatly, to help remove some of the barriers to heat pump take-up and, as a result accelerate the net zero transition.

“At United Living, a significant proportion of our business is about helping our clients to move towards net zero – I am so pleased to have Griff, GTEC and Heatly, joining our team.”

Charlotte Lee, chief executive of the Heat Pump Association (HPA), added: “GTEC is an active member of the HPA, and it’s great to see the growth and investment happening in the sector to support the widescale deployment of well designed, well installed heat pumps.”
