Thomas Farquhar, co-founder of Heatio, has commented on Energy Secretary Ed Miliband’s speech at the Labour Conference.

Thomas said: “We welcome a renewed focus on green energy and agree with Mr Miliband that clean energy is the biggest economic opportunity of our time. For too long, we have relied on fossil fuels while the rest of Europe has made huge strides in moving away from them. We need to catch up so that we too can enjoy the huge benefits of low-carbon technology such as heat pumps.

“We finally have a government that is treating Net Zero, not just as a critical national security issue, but as one of social justice too. At Heatio, we are on a mission to make lower cost renewable energy accessible to all – not just those who can afford it – and especially for those people who need it most. We welcome Labour’s promise to lift 1 million homes out of fuel poverty – ensuring the poorest people in our society don’t live in cold, draughty homes. We look forward to working with the government and its agencies in creating long-term change.”
