Tamsin Lishman, CEO of the Kensa Group, has urged social housing landlords to use the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund to improve heating and help protect residents against the impacts of fuel poverty.
The application window for the funding is open and allows social housing landlords to apply for support in installing clean heat and energy efficiency measures in their properties.
Kensa recently found that outdated electric heating is causing an energy bill crisis, a form of heating found in nearly 250,000 social homes.
Tamsin said: “This funding offers crucial support for social housing landlords across England, but urgent action is needed. The window to secure funding is short, but with it, they can upgrade their housing stock, improve measures like heating, and protect residents against the impacts of fuel poverty.
“The Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund can be used to shield tenants from energy bill shocks, like those caused by the price cap rise.
“Through over a decade working with the sector, we know that systems like ours can bring huge benefits to providers and even cut resident energy bills by over 66%. With the application window now open, we’d urge social landlords to take full advantage of this opportunity and implement the best possible heating systems for their properties and residents.”
