George Webb, Liquid Gas UK’s chief executive, has commented on the Scottish government’s update on the New Build Heat Standard.
The Scottish government has published updated guidance allowing the use of bioenergy heating systems in new build homes.
George said: “It is extremely welcome to see the Scottish government drop restrictions relating to bioenergy heating systems. Rural communities across the highlands and islands that are not connected to the mains gas network may struggle to heat their homes and businesses using electric technologies such as heat pumps due to the capacity of local electricity networks in these remote areas.
“This move will allow rural communities across Scotland to play their part in Scotland’s Net Zero journey by utilising renewable fuels that can be ‘dropped into’ existing LPG boilers.”
