Three individuals have been recognised for their commitment to the LPG and renewable liquid gases sector in the Young Person in LPG Awards at Liquid Gas UK’s annual conference in Edinburgh.

Dimeta’s Lizzie German won the award in the Outstanding Achievement category, while Max Bennett from AvantiGas was recognised as the Rising Star of the Year and Connor McLean from J Gas took home the Young Apprentice of the Year award.

Sponsored by Vaillant, the Young Person in LPG Awards is open to people aged 30 or under.

Entrants for the award were nominated by their employers or by direct application, with judges selecting the winners based upon examples of their skills, talent and tenacity.

Mark Wilkins, technologies and training director at Vaillant, said: “We are delighted to have sponsored this important initiative to recognise young people in our industry.

“Young people are our future and an important asset that we need to support and nurture. Awards such as this recognise their talents and contribution as we strive to decarbonise.”

Lizzie added: “It’s a privilege to be recognised in this category. I’m still relatively early in my career journey but for the last few years I’ve been working predominantly in the renewable fuels sector, which is an area of great opportunity.

“It’s a really exciting time to be involved in the industry, with the commitment to be 100% renewable by 2040. There’s a real need for transition, and with this, we will need young people with fresh ideas, so these awards are really important for encouraging young people to get involved in the sector.”
