Monument Tools has released a Best Practice Guidance booklet on the safe operation, storage, transport and disposal of Bernzomatic Propane and Pro//Max Cylinders.
This follows Liquid Gas UK’s publication of Guidance Sheet 40: Guidance on Storage, Marking, Transportation and Disposal of Non-Refillable Cylinders (GS40), which offers guidance for importers, manufacturers, wholesale or retail suppliers, dealers and stockists of non-refillable cylinders. The Guidance Sheet can be viewed online at LGUK’s website.
Bernzomatic is an American torch and fuel brand which is now available to customers in the UK and Ireland from Monument Tools. The Bernzomatic T757T and TS4000 torches, as well as Propane and Pro//Max Propylene gas cylinders, have been sold into the UK under a private label for over 20 years.
Monument Tools stated that there has been some confusion in the marketplace around how to mark, store, transport and dispose of LPG and Propylene cylinders. Liquid Gas UK’s GS40 document has been published to clarify the rules and regulations around these products, and Monument’s Bernzomatic Best Practice Guidance booklet is being launched to help address these facts in a straightforward and easy-to-understand way.
The Guidance booklet covers definitions, LPG/Propylene properties, safe operation of gas and torch, supply chain responsibilities, indoor and trade counter storage, transport, retail distribution by road, disposal of cylinders, 12 steps to minimise risk and frequently asked questions.
Jonathan Collier, managing director of Monument Tools, said: “Monument Tools is honoured to be partnering Bernzomatic in the UK and Ireland; together we are bringing quality products that have 20+ years of proven performance to the UK and Ireland market. The Bernzomatic brand has been trusted by trade professionals for more than 100 years, and offers premium components and first-class manufacturing, as well as guaranteed US and EU regulatory compliance.”
The company noted that LPG and Propylene cylinders are flammable and must be handled correctly to ensure the safety of everyone in the supply chain. All valve components of Bernzomatic cylinders are manufactured and tested to meet or exceed industry standards and premium components that will not leak with continual exposure to propylene fuel, it added.
Monument Tools said that Bernzomatic cylinders are also fully compliant with all relevant regulations, as well as ISO 11118, UN 1077 and UN 1978 requirements.
