Team NAPIT will brave the Pennines this summer in support of Ashgate Hospicecare as gets set to embark on a gruelling 24-mile expedition across the Yorkshire Three Peaks on June 22.
The team, made up of variety of age ranges and abilities from a selection of NAPIT’s departments, includes NAPIT group executive, Mike Andrews, alongside partners from NAPIT Drive and NAPIT Insurance.
The challenge is predicted to be a tough one, and is expected to take around 12 hours to complete. Starting the route at Ribblehead, Team NAPIT will first tackle the 736-metre ascent to the summit of Whernside, and then trek nine miles to begin the 723-metre climb up Ingleborough. Lastly, the team are set to hike the smallest, but by no means small ascent, up Pen-y-ghent at 694 metres.
The aim of the challenge is to raise much-needed funds for Chesterfield based charity, Ashgate Hospicecare. NAPIT is currently participating in a Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme with the hospice to support and fundraise for the vital services it provides. Ashgate Hospicecare provides free pain relief and symptom control services to patients with life limiting illnesses, as well as emotional, spiritual and social care support, which is extended to help the patients families during tough times.
Ashgate Hospicecare relies mainly on fundraising and donations from the public to keep its services running and to continue helping families in the Chesterfield area. Team NAPIT aim to raise a minimum of £5,000 by taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
