Following the launch of the government’s Industrial Strategy Green Paper, Kelly Becker, president at Schneider Electric UK and Ireland, Belgium and Netherlands, has released a statement.
Kelly said: “The Industrial Strategy Green Paper is an important first step in the right direction for sustainable growth and innovation in the UK. It is welcome that the government acknowledges the importance of supporting sector value chains and electrification as well as recognising the economic and business opportunities of net zero and the digital transformation.
“It is this journey that, with the right uptake of solutions, can enable the UK to regain its position as a manufacturing superpower and a leader of the energy and digital transitions.
“A refreshed Industrial Strategy, put on a statutory footing, is an opportunity to help manufacturers create new, highly skilled jobs across the country and supercharge local economies. The government rightly recognises that long term investment in the UK’s industrial sectors will be critical to driving sustained growth and prosperity, helping the UK reach Net Zero, attract new trade and investment opportunities, and maximise its competitive advantage globally.
“To ensure the final Strategy delivers, the government must engage with a wide range of industries – including those in the manufacturing supply chain – and assess the right supportive policy mechanisms.”
