Stiebel Eltron UK has been awarded the ISO 14001 Environmental Management accreditation for its efforts to reduce greenhouse gases, streamline waste management and improve its environmental performance.
According to a statement, the accreditation comes as Stiebel Eltron UK looks to build upon its sustainability initiatives, with the company recently installing Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points at its headquarters in Bromborough, Wirral.
Reacting to the certification, Stiebel Eltron UK’s managing director Mark McManus said it demonstrated the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility, as well as aligning with its ambition to spearhead renewable heating solutions across the UK.
First launched in 1996, the statement said that the ISO 14001 Environmental Management program is designed to guide companies in identifying, managing, monitoring, and controlling environmental processes, allowing them to benchmark their current performance.
An internationally recognised standard, the accreditation process saw Stiebel Eltron UK assess its energy use, transport planning, materials reuse, renewable energy generation, and waste management, as well as setting out ways to improve it, it noted.
To be certified, Stiebel Eltron UK had to meet the requirements of the standard on an annual basis. The company said it reduced its greenhouse gas emissions across the business using its own renewable technologies, implemented recycling and waste management measures, and improved its overall environmental progress.
Mark McManus said: “Ensuring that we minimise our impact on the world around us is vital to the work we do and a core part of the business as we look to drive renewable heating solutions across the country.
“Companies are rightly being held to account to be as sustainable as possible and this ISO accreditation shows our desire and commitment to reducing our environmental impact.
“Full credit to the Stiebel Eltron team leading the process, who worked tirelessly to assess our performance and identify measures which have seen us successfully optimise our operations.
“The hard work doesn’t end here though, and we’ll continue to drive sustainability across the company to ensure we continue to lead from the front in delivering a greener UK moving forward.”
