The heat pump bootcamp is aimed at those with a qualification in plumbing or gas, who are looking to expand their knowledge in the installation and maintenance of air source heat pumps. The boot camp is available to six cohorts of eight to 10 participants, and the next course will commence on 17 March 2025 at New College, Durham.

Over eight sessions covering five qualifications, a statement said that participants will gain the necessary skills to become MCS-certified on both air and ground source heat pumps.

This announcement coincides with National Apprenticeship Week 2025, which takes place from 10 to 16 February.

Ewan Sutherland, national training manager at Worcester Bosch, said: “We’re committed to providing opportunities to installers who wish to develop their skills and advance their careers in new areas. Apprenticeships are invaluable to Worcester Bosch and we have over 60 apprentices employed at any given time.

“While apprenticeships are an excellent grounding, opportunities such as the heat pump boot camp offer installers the chance to continuously improve their skills and remain updated on the latest technologies. The collaboration with New College, Durham reflects our commitment to narrowing the skills gap and supporting installers’ training and development, no matter where they are in their career.”
