As Halloween draws closer, Worcester Bosch has revealed findings on which everyday DIY jobs scare Brits the most.
Its latest homeowner research found the mere thought of DIY was enough to give some Brits a fright, with almost half of the 1,000 homeowners surveyed confessing that they either do not look forward to completing tasks around the home or never complete DIY jobs.
Two-thirds, 69%, of people said that they feel nervous before completing a task for the first time – regardless of what it is.
The company found 40% of homeowners were nervous about topping up boiler pressure, even though 50% knew how to. Bleeding radiators was a scary prospect for 27%, yet 69% knew how to do this.
With lockdowns increasing our time inside, over a third, 38%, of those surveyed had done more DIY since pre-COVID-19. However, many had put off DIY, with more than half saying they were guilty of avoiding household tasks in autumn and winter.
