Owen comes from an engineering background, with a BSc in Sustainable Energy and Innovation, and a BTEC HND in Manufacturing Engineering and Management.

He was previously a certification manager at BSI Assurance UK, responsible for managing pipe system Kitemark, CE and UKCA product certification schemes, including reviewing new and updated standards, with a particular focus on the energy sector. Prior to that he had a HVAC product management background after starting his career testing components such as gas valves and water valves to British and European standards.

He is a member of the TEPPFA Committee for Standardisation and the Construction Products Association Technical Committee, as well as participating on the Energy Networks Association Gas Industry Standards (GIS) Technical Standards Forum.

Owen said: “I am very excited to be taking up this role at the BPF Pipes Group, especially during this time as we are focusing so much more on sustainability of products and systems.  Optimising the lifecycle of plastic pipe systems is a sector priority, including solutions at the end of a long service life that enable contribution to the circular economy.

“I have had both supplier-side and standards-side experience which helps with neutrality and to focus on the bigger picture.”
