Ahead of World Water Day on 22 March, Glynn Williams, UK managing director of Grundfos, urged decision-makers to take swift action to improve the country’s water resilience.
Glynn Williams, UK managing director of Grundfos, said: “World Water Day serves as a reminder that policymakers should reinvigorate their commitment to managing our precious water supplies.
“While the UK government has demonstrated a willingness to improve our country’s water resilience through billion-pound pledges, fiscal commitments represent only a first step in the nation’s journey to efficient water management.
“Much of our nation’s water infrastructure is stuck in the 20th century. We need to modernise our water systems to meet present and future challenges. Digitising water infrastructure by implementing solutions such as smart sewers can help predict and prevent network overflows, thereby reducing water waste and optimising existing resources.”
