Exeter-based distributor Unitherm Heating Systems has announced the arrival of training manager Steve Rhodes.
Steve has worked within the renewables industry since 2008 when he worked as a training officer and helped develop and launch the first level 3 national qualification award heat pump course within the UK, later becoming a training manager.
In 2012 he started his own renewables business as a training provider and MCS Consultant before in 2015 working as a project manager for heat pump installations.
Unitherm Heating Systems has invested heavily in a training centre at its base in Exeter, committing to boosting the numbers of installers in the UK capable of installing air source heat pumps as the numbers of heat pumps required begins to grow, year on year.
The centre will be offering a selection of courses for installers with immediate effect including manufacturer training courses and pre-requisite courses such as Unvented Hot Water, a statement said.
Steve added: “We’re aiming to be a bit different to your run of the mill training set ups. The venue is perfect for this training – starting with free parking and lunch and refreshments included. But more importantly the exam fees are included in the cost of the course – there is no additional payment required, and all learning materials are included in the course fee. We have three fully operational air source heat pumps installed in the centre including a split system, so installers can get to grips with the real thing.”
The courses available at Unitherm include a four-day course on Installation and Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pumps – LCL Awards Level 3 Award (National Certification). There are pre-requisite qualifications required for entry to the Logic ASHP course and if these have lapsed or the candidate doesn’t hold them then he or she can renew these at Unitherm’s Training Centre – including Hot Water Systems and Safety (unvented hot water), Energy Efficiency and WRAS – water regulations certificate.
