In a posthumous nomination, Ken Vance, former training manager at Salamander Pumps, has been awarded the Contribution to Skills and Training award at 2022 Pump Industry Awards – in recognition of his efforts and dedication to the industry.
During his time at Salamander Pumps, Ken took it upon himself to revolutionise the way the training was delivered, developing the ‘Salamander E-School’, which is now widely used by colleges, re-sellers and installers, the company said.
As a qualified plumber himself, Ken was also responsible for delivering in-person training courses to colleges across the country, helping to shape plumbers of the future.
Of the award win, Gareth Richards, technical director at Salamander Pumps, said: “We’re very honoured to see Ken rewarded for his contribution to skills and training. Ken really lived and breathed the industry and Salamander Pumps, so it’s wonderful to see his efforts recognised in this way.
“Ken continues to be deeply missed by everyone here at Salamander Pumps but this award feels like a fitting tribute to him, and we’re so thankful that his long-term partner Jemma and his Mum and Dad were able to be with us on the night to accept the award on his behalf.”
Salamander Pumps was also a finalist for Manufacturer of the Year at the Pump Industry Awards 2022.
