The Plumbing and Heating Skills Partnership (PHSP) launched its business plan at an event in Derby recently.
The PHSP aims to support essential skills development to ensure that appropriate and consistent standards, qualifications and apprenticeships continue to be available across the UK.
The key priority for 2017 is to support the development activity of the Plumbing and Domestic Heating trailblazer apprenticeship for England.
Second-generation plumber, George Thomson, was appointed chairman of the group. He is currently the CEO of his family-owned business, The Shower Doctor, based in Edinburgh.
George said: “The skills agenda across the UK has changed dramatically over the last few years, putting the emphasis on the ownership of skills to the industry themselves. The PHSP was established to fill a void left by SummitSkills to ensure the skills needs of the UK plumbing and domestic heating industry are met.”
“At another event later this year, we will be inviting a wide range of stakeholders, who share a common passion and enthusiasm for vocational training and skills development and are willing to work in collaboration with others for the benefit of the plumbing industry.”
