Lifescience Products’ Water-King electronic water softener has gained performance certification from IAPMO R&T Labs in California where it showed an 83% reduction of scaling when tested on water at 82oC.
Aqua-Rex, Lifescience’s distribution subsidiary in the USA, teamed up with the IAPMO standards writing team and put together a protocol, IGC 335, based on an original “Rapid Scaling Test” that was developed in the UK in the 1990s.
The test uses a litre of water heated by an electric heater to 82oC over 23 hours. The scale formed on the heater is weighed and the average of four runs, with and without treatment, is calculated and the reduction of scaling expressed as a percentage.
Darren Stacey, of Life Science, said: “Water-King technology is already widely specified in the UK but this US certification will help to set it apart from other technologies. The test report can be seen on our web site.”
Aqua-Rex was set up in the USA ten years ago and is said to be leading the adoption of physical water conditioners in the market where ion exchange softeners have a dominant market share.
