Xpelair has extended its family of new Simply Silent Contour fans with the launch of a Constant Volume (CV) range, delivering a solution for bathroom and kitchen ventilation, particularly in the social housing sector.
The new Xpelair Simply Silent Contour CV and CVLV (low voltage) fans incorporate Intelligent Adaptiflow Sensing, a smart technology, which senses changes in airflow and adapts the fan speed intuitively to maintain a constant volume of extracted air.
A sensor in the duct airflow calculates and records the flow rate continuously, recognising consistent changes in airflow to adapt performance accordingly. Intelligent Adaptiflow Sensing works cooperatively with the fan’s active humidistat, increasing the flow rate when humidity increases rapidly.
It means homeowners and tenants can rest assured that the desired airflow will be achieved for the lifetime of the dMEV fan, while landlords and social housing providers can avoid damage to their housing stock through condensation and mould.
With bathroom and kitchen fan speed settings selected via a single ‘jumper’ at install and an additional adapter kit to replace 6″/150mm extractor fans, it gives installers a tailor-made, easy-to-install solution for the control of humidity, odours and mould growth in bathrooms, shower rooms, cloakrooms, toilets and kitchens.
An integral datalogger also records the fan’s daily use so that data can be gathered and interpreted by a technician. This provides the property owner with information on whether a fan has been in operation or if a tenant has switched it off – which would, of course, increase the potential of condensation and mould growth in damp areas.
Available in 240V or low voltage 24V DC options, the CV range offers all the benefits of the existing Xpelair Simply Silent Contour AC range, including a range of smart features for quick and hassle-free ‘So Simple’ installation and near-silent running thanks to Xpelair’s Ghost Air Movement Technology.
The entire Simply Silent Contour range includes long-life silent running motors and precision engineered components to avoid all mechanical noise, while advanced air flow management eliminates irregular air flow paths and turbulence within the fan. As a result, the new Simply Silent Contour CV is one of the quietest dMEV extractor fans available.
It is available in round or square fascias, giving a choice of four products in total with low voltage options. The Simply Silent Contour CV range comes with a five–year warranty and low voltage models are IPX5 rated for added peace of mind when installing in bathroom zones one and two.
Lee Stones, category manager for Xpelair, said: “The new Simply Silent Contour CV range offers a family of highly intelligent fans capable of making hundreds of calculations per second to regulate performance and deliver the optimum required flow rate for the lifetime of the product.
“Constant volume extractor fans are nothing new, but this new product uses Intelligent Adaptiflow Sensing to understand its surroundings and adapt performance, sensing changes in air flow caused by reduced ducting efficiency or variations in external conditions.
“It is the latest in a line of new products from Xpelair which are designed to improve health and wellbeing through indoor air quality and air comfort, combining high performance with near-silent running. We are working hard to create a whole range of silent products and this extension of the Simply Silent range is key to that mission.”
