Viega launches new nickel-free stainless-steel pipe

Viega has further expanded its range of piping solutions for building services, with the introduction of the new Inox 1.4520 pipe. This nickel-free stainless-steel pipe has been designed to ensure consistent quality and regular dimensions that will offer installers a competitive alternative to copper pipe in non-potable, heating and industrial applications.

Viega’s new pipe is of a stainless-steel grade that incorporates all the key benefits of copper, such as its high corrosion resistance, without any of the negatives associated with cheaper copper alternatives. This ensures that contractors have a cost-effective, versatile and high-quality stainless-steel solution that is compatible with copper press connections.

Using a precision laser beam welding process, the Inox 1.4520 pipe is available with covered endcaps to ensure the inside of the pipe remains free from any contamination such as pseudomonas if handled improperly during transport, storage and installation. For safety, the piping system is marked with a copper coloured ‘not drinking water permitted’ symbol.

With a variety of pipe dimensions from 15 to 108 mm, including intermediate sizing such as 64mm, Inox 1.4520 pipe is compatible with Viega’s Profipress copper and Sanpress & Sanpress Inox stainless steel fittings. The pipes can be used in heating installations, plant engineering and construction, technical gases or in other specialist applications.

“Viega’s Inox 1.4520 pipe provides contractors with a trusted copper alternative that ensures dependability and longevity,” said Scott James, managing director at Viega. “The alloy of the Inox pipe is low in copper and nickel-free, so the price on the piping system is much more stable. Supported by the Viega brand, this stainless-steel alternative provides peace of mind to contractors without a considerable price difference.”
