Steve Willis Training Centres recently hosted a graduation event, at its centre to celebrate nine of its apprentices graduating with a City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma in plumbing and heating. It’s a two-year course, which includes practical experience in the workshops at Steve Willis Training Centres classroom based learning and practical experience on the job with their employer. It’s a great way for school leavers to get their first steps on the career ladder, earn while they learn and end up with a trade at the end of it.
As part of doing an apprenticeship, you do need to be employed. Currently, Steve Willis Training Centres has a number of employers in the Sussex area waiting to recruit any would-be gas, plumbing or electrical apprentices – which is great news for anyone wishing to take the apprenticeship route. Currently, all of the graduates remain employed within the industry and eight of the nine have now gone onto start their Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing with Gas Pathway at the Burgess Hill Centre, which is one of the few centres that offer this specialist route.
Steve Willis, managing director, said: “I am extremely pleased with what these young lads have achieved, especially since two had started their apprenticeship elsewhere and we stepped in to assist them. Steve Willis Training Centres allowed them transfer to our training centre which resulted in a positive outcome and them gaining an industry recognised qualification.”
