Steve Willis welcomed local MP Sir Nicholas Soames to visit his Burgess Hill Training Centre last month.
Sir Nicholas was keen to find out more about the apprenticeships on offer, and had asked to meet some apprentices for an informal chat.
After a short introduction to the company from apprenticeships manager, Suzanne Green, Sir Nicholas joined the apprentices in the workshop where he was keen to talk to them about their experiences at the training centre. He was particularly interested to hear how they are all already employed in their chosen trades, and why they opted for the apprenticeship route to start their careers.
He then took a look at a heating system with apprentice, Harry Mansfield, and curriculum leader for plumbing and gas, Kevin Smith.
Managing director, Steve Willis said: “We are pleased that our MP Sir Nicholas Soames is interested in what we are doing for apprenticeships here at the training centre, and how it compares with provision at local colleges. Over 500 apprentices have qualified with us since we started delivering apprenticeships in 2004, and they benefit from our close links with employers across the region.”
